Because of your support, our students now have a space that makes writing exciting, hands-on, and accessible for every child. The materials you funded—such as textured letter cards, sand trays, letter manipulatives, and fine motor tools—have completely transformed the way our young learners experience letter formation. Instead of seeing writing as a challenge, they now see it as an adventure filled with movement, touch, and creativity. Thanks to you, every student can find a way to connect with letters that works best for their learning style, and the excitement around writing has truly grown.\r\nIn our Pre-K SCIS classroom, we know that children learn best when all of their senses are engaged. Many of our students need that extra sensory input—feeling, seeing, and hearing letters as they learn to form them—to make meaningful connections. With the tools you helped provide, we've been able to turn writing practice into a truly interactive experience. Students trace letters in colored sand, use Play-Doh to shape letter curves and lines, and practice fine motor control with magnet wands and bingo chips. They're strengthening their hand muscles while also improving focus and coordination. What once felt like \"work\" now feels like play, and that shift in attitude has made all the difference. Every day, I see students light up when they realize they can form letters on their own, and that confidence carries into every part of their learning.\r\nThe impact of this project goes far beyond handwriting. For many of our students, the multi-sensory writing center is also helping them develop patience, persistence, and pride in their accomplishments. We've seen children who used to avoid writing now eagerly choose it during center time, excited to show off the letters they can form. When they use the tactile letter boards or magnetic letter builders, they're not just learning shapes—they're building muscle memory and developing a love for literacy. One of my favorite moments was watching a student who had struggled with fine motor control proudly trace their name in a sand tray, then turn to a friend and say, \"Look! I did it!\" Those moments of joy and self-belief are exactly what your generosity made possible.\r\nThe writing center has also become a beautiful place for collaboration and peer support. Students cheer each other on, share ideas, and work together to build letters or form words. They're learning that mistakes are part of the process and that practicing helps them grow. We've even seen improved language and social skills as they talk through what they're doing—\"I'm making a big line down for L!\" or \"Your letter S looks like a snake!\" The space has become a hub for creativity, exploration, and connection. All of these moments are the direct result of your kindness and belief in giving students the right tools to succeed.\r\nBecause of your generosity, our classroom now has a welcoming, inclusive space where writing feels joyful, sensory-rich, and full of possibilities. The multi-sensory writing center has not only helped our students improve their letter formation—it has built their confidence, strengthened their fine motor skills, and sparked a genuine love of learning. You've made a lasting difference in their educational journey, and we are so incredibly grateful. Thank you for believing in the power of early literacy, for supporting hands-on learning, and for helping our students discover that writing can be fun, meaningful, and magical.","fullyFundedDate":1758147028385,"projectUrl":"project/multisensory-magic-a-writing-center-for/9661545/","projectTitle":"Multisensory Magic: a Writing Center for Early Literacy","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Daley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3696418_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y46&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1605816803368","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/r-daley"},{"teacherId":2331641,"projectId":9724386,"letterContent":"In the week that we have received our new printer, we have done so much with the students. We are working on adding pictures to our books and images . \r\n\r\nThe best part of it all is seeing the students happy faces when we print out their very own pictures. Before, Craymond would hide in his mother's tank with limited space to move and explore due to the territorial nature of crayfish. The new aquarium provided each of our friends with the space and comfort needed for them both to thrive. This setup allowed the students a better opportunity to observe the natural behavior of their pet crayfish up close.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the aquarium materials arrive, their excitement filled the room. They gathered around asking questions and making guesses about how Craymond would use his new home. Some students offered to help set up the tank, while others carefully watched as we added the decorations and water. When we finally moved Craymond into his new place, the class cheered and watched closely as he explored every corner. It was a special moment of learning and joy that helped the students feel even more connected to their classroom pet.\r\n\r\nWithout your donation, this experience would not have been possible. CDs often skipped, buttons were confusing, and sometimes the players simply didn't work after years of use. What should have been a magical storytelling experience often became a frustrating one, for both students and teachers. It limited their ability to listen to stories independently and truly engage with the rich language and characters of the books we wanted them to love.\r\n\r\nNow, with the addition of the Toniebox, everything has changed. The Toniebox has revolutionized our classroom listening experience. Students are captivated by its simple design, vibrant colors, and the interactive nature of the Tonies themselves. With just a tap of a character, students can independently begin listening to stories, no buttons, no skipping tracks, and no needing to call over an adult to help get it started. Even our youngest learners feel empowered and confident when using it.\r\n\r\nOne of the most beautiful parts of introducing the Toniebox into our classroom has been watching students who are still developing early reading skills engage meaningfully with rich literature and audio storytelling. They laugh, imagine, sing along, and retell the stories they've heard with joy. It's fostering a deeper connection to language, storytelling, and imagination. We've already seen an increase in students choosing to visit the listening center during independent work time, and many are retelling and reenacting their favorite stories during play or writing time.\r\n\r\nThis project also helps students develop 21st-century skills by introducing them to age-appropriate technology. Unlike smartphones or tablets, the Toniebox provides screen-free listening that is developmentally appropriate and encourages attention, focus, and creativity, without the distractions of visuals or apps.\r\n\r\nBeyond literacy and technology, the Toniebox also promotes social-emotional growth. Students are learning to take turns, manage volume, care for the Tonie characters, and be respectful listeners. Watching a student take responsibility to set it up, share the Tonie characters, and guide their peers is exactly the kind of independence and leadership we strive to nurture.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, you've made all of this possible. You've helped create an engaging space in our classroom that will be used by dozens of students this year, and many more in years to come. It's hard to put into words how much of a difference this has made. Your kindness has brought joy, confidence, and storytelling magic into our daily routine.\r\n\r\nOn behalf of every student who lights up when they hear their favorite Tonie story begin—thank you. Thank you for investing in our future readers, dreamers, and storytellers.","fullyFundedDate":1754926985797,"projectUrl":"project/big-imaginations-little-ears-inclusive/9434774/","projectTitle":"Big Imaginations, Little Ears: Inclusive Storytelling with a Toniebox!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Daley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3696418_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y46&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1605816803368","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/r-daley"},{"teacherId":3696418,"projectId":9661293,"letterContent":"From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much for your generosity and kindness. Because of your support, our Pre-K SCIS (Special Class in an Integrated Setting) classroom now has wonderful new tools to help our students learn how to calm their bodies and minds—breathing supports, weighted stuffies, and fidgets. These might seem like simple items, but for our little learners, they have made a world of difference. Every day, I see your gift in action—helping students feel safe, focused, and proud of their growing ability to handle big feelings. You've truly helped us create a classroom where everyone can learn, feel supported, and shine in their own way.\r\n\r\nOne of the most powerful changes has come from our new breathing supports. In Pre-K, emotions can feel very big and hard to manage, and many of our students are still learning how to pause and calm down. Now, when someone starts to feel upset or overwhelmed, we practice with our breathing cloud and visuals. These tools make deep breathing fun and easy to understand. It's amazing to watch the transformation—little faces that were tense start to relax, shoulders drop, and smiles return. Some of the children have even started reminding each other to \"take a deep breath\" when a friend is having a hard moment. Thanks to you, they're not just learning a strategy—they're building emotional awareness and empathy that will serve them for years to come.\r\n\r\nThe weighted stuffies you helped fund have become fast favorites in our classroom! These cuddly, weighted animals provide comfort, security, and a calming sense of pressure that helps many of our students regulate their bodies. When a child is feeling anxious, frustrated, or tired, they can choose a weighted stuffy, find a cozy spot, and take a few minutes to reset. Sometimes all it takes is a quiet hug with a stuffed animal to help a student feel safe and ready to rejoin the group. It's heartwarming to see how independently some children now ask for a calm friend when they recognize they need one—that kind of self-awareness and self-advocacy is exactly what we hope to nurture in our classroom.\r\n\r\nThe fidgets have also been an incredible addition. These small tools—like stretches and rainbow squishy—give our students something to do with their hands during lessons or transitions, helping them stay focused and calm. What's even more meaningful is that they're learning that everyone's body feels different and that it's okay to need different tools to do our best learning. When one student quietly uses a fidget, another might take deep breaths or cuddle a stuffy—and they're all starting to understand that these choices help them feel their best. That sense of acceptance and understanding has made our classroom community stronger and kinder.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, our students are learning that emotions are okay, that they can calm their bodies in healthy ways, and that they have the power to make good choices for themselves. These tools have helped create a space that feels safe, comforting, and full of joy—a place where every child can learn and grow at their own pace. Your generosity didn't just fund classroom materials; it gave our students the gift of emotional growth, confidence, and belonging. We are so deeply grateful for your support and for believing in the importance of helping little learners build these lifelong skills.","fullyFundedDate":1758146806529,"projectUrl":"project/a-cozy-corner-for-calming-comfort-and/9661293/","projectTitle":"A Cozy Corner for Calming, Comfort, and Connection","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Daley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3696418_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y46&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1605816803368","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/r-daley"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_108612","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":null,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":74,"percentAsian":14,"percentBlack":16,"percentWhite":12,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":34,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Record","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":23.1,"schoolId":108612,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Mosaic Pre-K Center on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Mosaic Pre-K Center","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/pre-k-center-at-68-20-myrtle-avenue/108612"}
