My Students

My first grade students are part of an integrated classroom that celebrates all of their special needs, gifts and talents. As a class, they come together from many different cultures, languages and abilities. They all work hard and love to be challenged. However, sometimes they need help meeting these challenges.

Every child can succeed...sometimes they just need different tools to help them on their journey!

My classroom is a happy place where all students believe that they are able to succeed and that they are supported both in and out of school. School is a place where we work hard and persevere through challenges. We work in large groups, small groups, partnerships and individually throughout the day.

My Project

We need color ink to be able to print color charts. These charts are used as tools to guide reading, writing and math instruction. The individual charts have pictures that are color-coded and help students to set goals and to keep on track. Students are expected to have personal charts in all subject areas that differ in every unit. The problem is right now with our limited resources, these tools are printed in black and white which are hard to read. These black and white charts also cause confusion at times. We have a color printer but we don't have ink. By having a color-coded individual student chart, all students can access the skills needed to help them meet the standards.

Color ink will help my students to have these individual charts in color to help them reach their goals and laminating pouches will preserve them!

By having these individual charts in color, students will have a more effective classroom tool for their learning. We are a classroom that has students with special needs. These color tools make it more accessible to all students. By having color ink in our classroom, my students will be able to print their work from the computer or an iPad as well.

By laminating the individual charts, these tools can be used over and over in our classroom, while at the same time it will provide interactive learning so that students can write on them. In addition, the ink will be utilized to create tools and other charts in other subjects in our classroom. Please help me bring these new and exciting resources to my students!
