Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work in a Title I school, where 100% of the students at my school qualify and receive free lunch. My students live in a vibrant and diverse but poor neighborhood. The population consists mainly of English language learners with an influx of displaced students that have lost everything and are starting new lives in a new country.

My scholars are incredible students who, despite their economic and language barriers, are still extremely motivated.

In my classroom, their socioeconomic and language levels are not important. I believe in them and their success.

My Project

During these unprecedented times, many parents chose to have their students learn from home. Teachers adapted to virtual instruction. Unfortunately, the area most impacted during this time was writing.

Students got little to no practice writing and their penmanship and their writing skills were greatly impacted.

This project is for writing journals to help students get excited for writing. Students should be writing 4-5 paragraph essays by the end of 3rd grade. Unfortunately, many students come unable to write a complete sentence. Help us close those gaps created by this unfortunate time and get our scholars excited to express themselves!
