This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Most students who come from low-income households start school with a learning gap. The majority of my students start grade 2 without reading or writing. The only real way to close the gap is by attending directly to the individual needs of each and every student.
Please help me to fix the widespread inequities and disparities that happen across our schools and classrooms.
Each child needs the attention and encouragement required to help them perform at the level they are uniquely capable of reaching. Persistent gaps and disparities can be observed and measured in under-resourced schools. Most of the children in my school come from low-income households and have parents who did not have the opportunity to finish school.
The dry erase clipboards will help my students during math; allowing them to quickly erase their mistakes and try again. We will use the clipboards for solving equations and using different addition and subtraction strategies.
A single teacher cannot close the achievement gap alone. But any teacher can accomplish growth and improvement within the bounds of the relationships they build with their students. With your help and support we can begin the work of counteracting and transforming the performance disparity, each day.
