it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Hi! I teach a wonderful group of students at the intermediate level. My class is composed of 7 children diagnosed with autism. My students struggle with low-income, as well a disability affecting all aspects of their life.
My situation is simple. The students have many deficits and one area of concern is sensory overload; however, I'm beginning to feel that hormones are creating an obstacle that even the best written support plan could not assist. My yearly budget is $300.00 and I must spend most of it on basic school supplies.
Due to their sensory deficits, my students could use materials to keep them calm. Putty, manipulatives and vibrating toys are recommended by the Occupational Therapist. Also, I requested Handwriting Without Tears material because it creates sensory stimulation for learning and remembering letters.
With your donation, my students will be able to remain calm and comfortable within the classroom. I could give them tools, so that they could independently request the items thus self-regulate their behaviors. I'm looking forward to your response.
