This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever worked with a child that has autism and is not able to communicate her needs because he can't speak or because he simple can't sit down.

My class has six students with autism.

Two of them are in second grade and four of them are in Kindergarten. They are all boys. They are students who love to learn, but need to have their sensory needs met before they can sit down and start learning. Due to their autism they have a lot of sensory needs. For example they need a place to rest after they have had a melt down (tantrum). They need an area where they can sit down and relax.

My Project

The bean bag seats will be used so we can do sensory exercises with them. For example taco hugs. They can also be used for pressure. The activity balls can be used to give the students massages. Some of them need a massage to calm down. When the students have a massage they are able to sit down and learn.

My project is important because my students are important.

They bring sunshine to me every day and a smile to my face. Every time they learn something new I feel so proud of them and myself. However, I need alternative supplies so I can help them learn more!
