Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a special education teacher to eight terrific and eager to learn students, whom are on the Autism spectrum and students with intellectual disabilities. My students come from low-income households, and do not have access to the world around them due to this pandemic.
The challenges that my students face today, during this pandemic, are unfortunate for their needs.
My students need various types of supports to learn new skills including visual, auditory and tangible supports. These are difficult supports to give during this time, but they are doing all they can with what they have. Despite the difficulties in which this pandemic presents itself, my students continue to show such great enthusiasm to learn each day. Unfortunately, they have limited access to many of the supplies needed.
My Project
With this iPad, I am hoping that it will build student engagement as I continue to teach from home. My students need access to as many resources as I can get, to help them learn from home. The iPad will help me to give my students more direct access to me, as well as the curriculum content. It will help me to more easily differentiate work for my students with special needs.
The iPad will help me to create more interactive lessons with endless learning opportunities.
It will help me to collaborate with students in real time quickly and more easily. The iPad is something that I can use anywhere and be readily available to my students. I can't wait to explore more ways to build student engagement with the iPad, and I hope to make my students learning more interactive and differentiated to fit their needs.
