Help me give my students a carpet, Wiggle Wobble Chair Feet, My Mindful Mats, tactile liquid letters, and other items to help them regulate their emotions and enjoy rich sensory experiences.
My students are kindergarten and first graders who are creative, playful and curious. I teach in a public school where my students are in a self contained class for students on the autism spectrum or who have developmental delays. My school is a Title I school where over 50% receive free and reduced lunch.
Many students in my classroom learn best by having the sensory needs met.
This includes multiple learning methods throughout the day. From tactile to kinesthetic activities to help them learn and regulate their needs.
My Project
The small Mindful Mats will help my students have a place to go when they need to calm down. The big rug will help us have a meeting place where we can have classroom meetings, learn about emotions/social skills, and connect with each other.
Sensory items and calming areas will help my students.
Having sensory bins, tactile letters and a calming ball will make it easier for students to express their emotions and meet their sensory needs.
Also having the wobble chair feet will help them meet their sensory needs when sitting in a chair.
