This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom of first-graders live in an urban community in Western MA.

My students are bright, creative, and impressionable young learners.

They're each unique in their own ways and interests. As a new teacher, I would like to build up my resources to provide them with experiences that run parallel to the curriculum content, and that investigate their personal interests.

My Project

As a new teacher, I would like to build up my resources to provide them with experiences that run parallel to the curriculum content, and that investigate their personal interests. I would like the build up part of my classroom library with different and new authors and texts, as well as offer flexible seating for diverse learners. By adding books such as I Am Enough and Little Leaders: Women in Black History, my students will be able to master a sense of self and acceptance, as well as believe in their abilities as learners and members of the community.
