This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are an incredible bunch of people and wonderful students. They come from a very tough and very poor neighborhood, (in fact, the poorest Congressional district in the country), but this has not stopped them from being incredibly sweet, generous, and caring people.

Only 1% of our school's parents have a college education, but I know for a fact that my students are well on their way to attending college in the future.

It is a testament to their great attitude and tough skin. They are humble and take nothing for granted, but give so much back through the people they are.

My Project

I have selected a variety of different books, from a variety of different genres, all of which my students have recommended to me, and have shown interest in, after the first few days of school.

The books I do have in class, that meet student interests, not only fly off the shelves but they have waiting lists!

If these resources, somehow, make their way to my classroom, it will bring a true, real smile to the faces of my students. I know, because I have experienced it.

Students will be lining up to sign out that new book they have heard all about. As an educator, there is nothing greater than providing a student with a learning opportunity that they want to experience for themselves.
