This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In New York City, 8th graders take one test which determines their eligibility for some of the best public schools in the city. Many students prepare for years for this test, and are enrolled in expensive programs which teach them the best test-taking strategies to gain admittance to these schools.
The students at my school are bright, motivated, and excited about life beyond their current middle school years.
They are ready to work for the opportunity to attend one of the best high schools in New York City.
However, most of the students at my school cannot afford to prepare for the test. Many are English language learners, and will be the first in their family to graduate from high school or college.
My Project
I am starting an enrichment program at my school this summer to prepare them for the test, but we do not have enough funding to pay for the books!
I want each student to have their own book which they can use to take notes, read and reread for clarity, and use as a reference book.
We are ready to guide them through instruction and support over the summer. Help us give them the best experience possible!
By donating to this project, you will provide students with a tangible resource they can use for months in and out of school to prepare for their 8th grade high school exam.
These students are excited at the opportunity to attend one of the best high schools in the city, and deserve the same preparation that other students who attend expensive preparatory programs receive. We are offering this program for FREE, and we need your help to make it as strong as possible. Thank you!
