Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have 32 amazing students who work hard despite the environment they live in. My school has a Title I designation; however, these students come to school each day ready to learn, eager to learn about new places, new students, and new cultures. Our school is a safe place for our students to learn and grow. The students who attend this school are ethnically and socioeconomically diverse, providing a potentially rich learning environment as students participate in classroom discourse from their individual perspectives.
My Project
This novel uses descriptive language to bring Jamestown alive. Our countries history is difficult for 5th graders to grasp and understand. This novel brings the story of Jamestown alive and gives the students information to give them a mental picture of what Jamestown might have been like.
This book is written through the eyes of a 10 year old boy.
I am hoping that students will be able to relate to this young boy and understand what he went through while he began his life in this new place, Jamestown. Jamestown had many struggles: finding food, being safe, learning how to survive without skills to live in a foreign land.
