Help Bring History to Life

My students need Historical Fiction books to participate in a grade-wide genre study. This is their first experience with the genre. I am requesting 48 titles, such as "Chains," "The Keeping Room," "Fire from the Rock," and "Cast Two Shadows."

My Students

Inspire young readers who have a genuine love of literature. My students are preparing for their exploration of the Historical Fiction genre. They are excited in a way that only young children can be. Unfortunately, the school does not have enough books to support the study. Your help is essential.

My students are like any typical 9 year old.

They love to go to school, they look forward to learning new things, and they rely on their teacher to show them the world in new and exciting ways. Sadly, over 90% of my students live well below poverty level, so their families are not in a position to secure the materials the students desperately need. However, no matter the circumstances, my students want nothing more than to be successful in school.

My Project

The students have never had the opportunity to study the Historical Fiction genre due to limited school resources. With these books, the students will finally be able understand what distinguishes this genre by actually reading a variety of books within the genre. The students are eager to begin projects based on the genre and have already formulated some ideas for projects around the genre. I am requesting such titles as "chains", "The Keeping Room", "Fire from the Rock", and "Cast Two Shadows."

You can touch the lives of these children in a way that is fundamental.

The students will not only have the opportunity to learn something that is brand new and therefore utterly exciting in so may ways, they will also gain an understanding of the kindness and generosity people can exhibit towards one another. This is a lesson that can't be explained in words, it can only be experienced on a personal level. You have the power to teach this valuable life lesson with your donation.
