My students need supplies such as paper, markers, paper-mache, and more for their history projects on ancient civilizations as well as an Eggspert interactive classroom device to support classroom learning.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Geography, art, architecture, religion, economics, leaders... what do these have in common? They are all part of 6th grade history. In sixth grade, students learn about the ancient civilizations of Greece, Rome, China, Mesopotamia, Egypt and India.
I teach approximately 50 sixth grade students in an urban middle school in a predominately Latino community.
My students are eager to learn and appreciative of the opportunities school provides. However, many come from homes that can not afford supplies for special classroom projects. More often than not, students will tell me that they "forgot" the materials in front of the class and then pull me aside to explain that their parents could not afford them.
My Project
By having resources to create projects, students are more engaged in learning the content. Students will replicate mosaics of the Romans, create pottery from ancient Greece, write and perform skits to show life in ancient Egypt, present posters of inventions from ancient China and much more.
With your support, all of my students will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on and creative experiences in the classroom.
They will have the materials they need to create quality and engaging projects to reinforce their learning of ancient civilizations.
