My students need 4 iPads so that they will be able to use educational programs such as iRead, MyON and Math Facts to improve their reading levels and mathematical knowledge!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our classroom is a fun, safe, and engaging space for students to learn and not be afraid to make mistakes. With the help of some up-to-date technology the students will improve academically. Our school currently has the license to great academic programs such as iread, MyOn and MathFacts- however our kids are so little, they struggle to make use of these apps on the computer with a standard keyboard and mouse. There are currently no I-Pads available to the kindergarten students and so I would like to fund raise for our kids.
With this funding we can get 4 iPads which will service a small group of 4 students at a time that can be rotated so that the whole class will be able to work on the program throughout the week!
Our school is a Title 1 school in Queens serving the community's children grades K-5. The student body is 97% children of minority background, majority low-income and a high population of ELL's/Special Education students. My class is a self contained 12-1 special education class. :)
My Project
My Kindergartners struggle using computers, which are old and require motor skills such as typing/using a mouse. With four new I-Pads to work with the students will all be able to use technology more often due to the devices speed and flexibility.
iPads will allow the students to use and learn from these academic programs with ease, and demonstrate their knowledge with this new technology.
More than half of my students receive Occupational Services to improve their fine motor skills. Due to the touch screens there will be no more struggling with using a mouse, waiting because the computer is loading, or have kids missing valuable time to use technology in their learning.
This technology will make a major difference in literacy and mathematics for the students to learn and grow with. Especially teaching and working with students with special needs, they deserve current technology to aid in their learning.
