it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
About My Students
We need an iPad, so students with severe reading and math disabilities can access the general education curriculum. My class is comprised of very motivated, special education students. My students come from less than ideal homes and in most situations, school is the warmest part of their day.
Despite their personal situations, our students come to school each day wanting to learn. Our students realized that there are evidenced-based learning intervention apps that are effective for ameliorating learning disabilities such as dyslexia or discalculalia. They are wondering why they don't have access to these resources and they don't accept the fact that there isn't adequate funding. Our students demand the most current and effective interventions!
Dyslexia and discalculalia responds to interventions! Without at least basic literacy skills, our students are hopeless in the job market. Apps such as Dragonbox (math intervention) and LooGoon (dyslexia intervention) are an empirically validated and evidence based intervention for students with severe learning disabilities. We're asking for these resources to help our students.

I found out that there are apps that can help me read better even though I have a disability. I want to be able to read better and I want to be able to do this on an iPad. It doesn't make sense that some schools have this and we don't! -Angel
