it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are always excited and highly self motivated when singing or playing guitar; they never want to leave the music room. They attend a public school of high poverty. It is always a situation of first come, first served.
They often ask, "How long will it take before I get good?" A school semester is usually just enough to prepare students for a recital or performance.
Without the right gear, it's like preparing for failure; progress can become impossible.
My Project
Bringing two shekere (percussion) to our students will benefit everyone in the classroom by making sure that they are part of a group with more sound color. Students are always curious as to how they will sound on stage after so many rehearsals. Without all the right gear, their learning and motivation can easily be handicapped. For music, in a concert environment, not having all the sound timbres is like being limited to some crayons for an art canvas. Our current system doesn't do justice to our concerts. Your contribution will make a difference in close to 200 students. With your help, this project will bring two shekere to our students; this will make a huge difference in their learning and improve their music artistry. This will provide more opportunity by making it possible that their group sound has more color. Our current sound system doesn't allow their full potential.
