My Project

Brain Snacks

Hi everyone!

I teach 5th grade in Alaska at a remote village in the Arctic Circle where all food has to be flown in except what can be locally hunted or fished. All of my students qualify for free and reduced lunch.

My students are eager to learn and do well in school but sometimes it is hard to be ready to learn when the temperature is -40, or when the planes can’t fly for 1 or more weeks, and we run out of healthy food, sometimes it can take a month for food to be restocked. I provide some snacks, and all resources that are not textbook-based are paid for by me. My students would love to be able to grab a beef jerky stick or granola bar to fill up their brains with much-needed protein.

We wish for a pantry in our room filled with healthy snacks and your donations will provide that critically crucial brain food. Thank you!
