Celebrate Black Teachers and Students
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The students at our school are some of the most amazing young men and women that you have ever met. They come from the inner city and are full of heart and spirit. We do not focus on what we do not have, but what we do have and what we can accomplish. We are an art school. Our students work hard protecting their crafts. We have vocal, dance, art and technology majors. They all impress me every single day.
My Project
My student are very easily overwhelmed by the demands that are put on the from the school district. I am constantly try to find ways to help them organize themselves and become more independent. I use a color coding system in the classroom to help them. Each subject has an identifying color. The bins would help me to create room sections for each subject and filing system that the they can easily understand. Our district also uses a coding system for the writing process. I can use the bins to identify what part of the process they need to work on.
