This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a Speech Language Pathologist, I work with students with speech and language related disabilities. These students often are unable to get supplies that provide them with full access to the curriculum, which leads to them struggling in school. A Speech Language Pathologist can help narrow the achievement gap between children with and without disabilities.

Please help me provide effective, efficient therapy to my students, and spend more time on their progress instead of spending time on looking for items and re-making materials.

To provide effective therapy to my students, I need to be organized and savvy with my materials. My goal is to spend less time on trying to organize and find all my files and materials, and more time providing services to my students. I will use a filing cabinet to quickly locate children's files and organize all of my laminated materials by topic. Laminators are also a vital tool to providing my students with services. Pre-made Speech materials are costly, and it is something the school district cannot afford to provide. Luckily, printed and laminated materials are just as effective but far more cost-efficient.

I use laminators frequently to provide visual materials for students on the autism spectrum. Children with ASD often benefit from having visuals along with written or spoken material. This gives them greater access to language and allows them to communicate with their teachers, staff, and even their peers.
