Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students enter our high school with an amazing community of educators that work together to meet the diverse needs of the community. Seventy-eight percent of the student population at our school are Latinos and 40% are English Language Learners.

My 9th graders come into high school with a thirst for knowledge and a motivation for learning.

To pass the MCAS, students make their own interactive notebooks using colored paper, copy paper, and tape. Their notebooks are used as references throughout the year and students take pride in them. When students complete their left side pages in their notebooks, they receive a stamp as a signal that they are on track. They are hard working, care about their learning, and have a passion for science. Ninth graders are a part of the freshman academy where they are held to high standards and are guided to achieve academic, emotional, and social excellence.
