I teach 6th grade Advanced Academic students and our classroom is in a trailer located outside of the school building. We have 9 laptops to use among the group and it is very difficult to borrow computers from teachers inside of the building. Some students have a device they can bring from home but most do not. So far this year we have made book trailers on IMovie, Websites on Google Sites, and slide presentations on Google Slides. I would like to continue offering these opportunities but without each student having access to a laptop, it is very challenging.

My Project
Additional laptops in the classroom will allow students to share their original ideas though non-traditional methods. They will have the ability to create slide presentations, websites, videos and movies. They will be able to do in-depth research, writing, and display their learning in a much more enjoyable manner.
Advanced learners are highly curious and technology opens the world to them.
Six graders are very comfortable experimenting with technology. Earlier in the year they were able to add an additional component to book groups by creating a 'movie trailer' depicting full understanding of both plot and characterization. On another occasion they researched social issues and created a blog to share their learning and allow other students to read and reflect Having 2 additional laptops will get us closer to the goal of every student having access to technology in the classroom.
