This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Today, the average nine year old is more technologically literate than the average adult. Our Class proves this to be true through their active use of Smart boards, iPads, and laptops.

Our Class is a group of dynamic, effervescent thinkers.

They are jolly, nimble, and quick-and require a great amount of swiftness from their teachers! We are as inclusive as it gets, and our kiddos have strengths in every area. They come from all over the world, and our class has enjoyed the most pleasant cultural richness. My students go to a huge, urban elementary school that is full of high-energy, insightful teachers that truly enjoy the children they teach. Inclusivity is one of our school's main pillars, and our students have truly blossomed because of it. The community is incredibly supportive, helping our school manage and run a competitive chess team, cheer leading squad, ballroom dancers, soccer players, choir, theater arts, all the while ensuring the kids get the high quality education they deserve.

My Project

An Apple TV would improve the technological efficiency. Currently, numerous cords and cables have to maneuvered to project student and teacher iPads on the smartboard. This can take as little as 5 minutes, or as much as 15 minutes depending on which cords have been shifted and what kind of equipment was used last. This might sound like minimal time, but in a world where lessons are typically 12 minutes, even 5 minutes is a lot. When using an Apple TV, one simply has to type in a 4 number code into their iPad to project their screen onto the smartboard. This takes seconds. The Apple TV would allow students and teachers to share their thinking with one another much more efficiently, through the use of various iPad apps.

While an Apple TV might sound superfluous, it's not.

Allowing students to see their work on the smart board screen by the click of a button not only advances their technological literacy, it improves their academic drive and deepens their thinking. In a world that becomes more technologically advanced by the minute, our students need to be on the same playing field as their peers. An Apple TV would allow them to do so.
