Help me give my students a grocery store along with pretend food sets to practice their social and language skills. These items will help build students' understanding of social roles and occupations.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a preschool teacher in a Title I school. The majority of my students qualify to receive free meals and are learning English as a second language. They come from low-income neighborhoods where families are struggling economically to make ends meet.
Despite what our country is facing, my preschool students are always ready and eager to learn.
My students love to share their small and big accomplishments. As young as they are, they have not allowed this pandemic to stop them from learning.
My Project
My preschool students are developing socially, emotionally, and academically. Their cognitive and language skills are thriving day by day.
Fred Rogers said, "Play gives children a chance to practice what they are learning."
I completely agree, play is an essential part of early childhood. This grocery store will provide exciting opportunities for my students to practice skills we have learned in class. Students will build their word knowledge when they read the labels on the can food items. As they play, they will put to practice math concepts such as counting, sorting, and simple addition. The grocery store will help students become familiar with identifying and using money. Making healthy choices while shopping and classifying the food into groups are life skills students will be able to practice with the grocery store. My students will really enjoy role-playing the different occupations. They will take turns with their classmates to be the cashier and the customers. The pizza and the sandwich play sets will provide opportunities to build on their listening and speaking skills as they place and take orders. They will also be able to practice sequencing as they prepare the requested orders. These are some of the skills my preschool students will be able to apply when they play with the grocery store and the play sets.
