This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students at my school are enthusiastic about learning, and I want to make sure that they have the tools they need to succeed. They are great kids, and I would love to add more engaging learning activities for them to immerse themselves in. My students work well with others and give their best efforts in all that they do. About 90% of them qualify for free lunch, and the majority of the students are Hispanic in ethnicity with non-English speaking parents.

My Project

The recess monitors need these 2-way radios to be able to communicate with each other as the children are spread across a wide field. If the recess monitors are able to communicate, there would be more order outside. The recess monitors would be able to do a better job in containing the children in the large space.

How can we help fight childhood obesity if the students do not have anything to play with?

A review of student grades and school-wide data indicate that students who are engaged in daily activity are more likely to pay attention in their classes. These students need to get the most out of their recess time to increase classroom attention. These two-way radios will allow that to happen safely while giving students an opportunity to participate in fun activities.
