Hellbender Heroes: Making a Change

Help me give my students the items needed to create materials that will bring awareness to help protect the local hellbender population.

My Project

My 5th graders' project is dedicated to raising awareness and supporting the conservation of the hellbender salamander, a unique and endangered species native to western North Carolina’s rivers. Students have read and learned all about the ecosystem standards as they are working with local wildlife biologists at the Chattanooga Zoo in TN for Salamander Saturday to create awareness materials for the hellbender's population decline.

Using the photo printer, carrying case, and ink, we will make stickers, bookmarks, a puzzle, and a card game.

These items will bring awareness to help protect the local hellbender population. This project offers a unique opportunity for students to engage with a local environmental issue and contribute to real-world conservation efforts.
