My Students

PCMS Pumas are excited, passionate, and embrace learning new challenges to their thinking. I can see that they are thirsty for getting involved in their world. We embrace the time in Science to learn new ways of understanding and discover where the Science we learn today, began. Their energy and excitement inspire me, each day!

Our school is between a "Rock" and a "Weird Place." We are Pflugerville in motion.

These students are the future of Pflugerville, Texas and I'd like them to have an experience that will rock their world and inspire them to greatness.

Each child comes to school eager to be the best they can be. This book will help them accomplish that and engage their thinking by building upon their collaborative skills of their ideas and sharing them in a productive design.

My Project

Students will be reading "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks," and work through, on a weekly basis, the chapter study questions. This will be an open dialogue study and will give students an opportunity to work through the ethics of studying Science as well as developing their voice professionally. There will be some parts that my 6th graders might not understand and that will give my 8th graders an opportunity to mentor in an academic setting. My 7th graders will be learning about the human body this year in the curriculum and will get motivated to dig deeper into the why we know what we know. This will inspire my 6th graders for their next year of school and inspire my 8th graders to go into High School focusing on their future as an adult and heading into the Sciences as a career.

We will be digging into the heart of this record and how it applies to becoming ethical scientists in their world.

The group discussions we will have each week will give the students an opportunity to hear how others perceive the information in the book. This will give students an opportunity to learn how to communicate professionally their opinions.
