Help me give my students the ability to be active learners with headphones.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I am teaching 5th and 6th grade in Baltimore City, Maryland. My students are amazing, bright scholars excited and ready for the new school year. Many of the students are learning English as a second language and need extra support in the classroom. I am trying to find the best ways to support each student and ensure they succeed. My students are vibrant and excited to learn. They have the energy and capability to learn and I want to be there to see it! We always discuss that we need to work as a team so that we can all succeed - in order to do that, I need the supplies to do my part!
This project is to ensure that students have access to headphones with microphones. The students will use these headphones in multiple classes including mathematics, English language arts, social studies, and science. Our students use different platforms such as Readworks and Discovery Education in English language arts, social studies and science. We use these websites to maximize engagement because they allow for differentiation. Also, both of these learning websites have options for the texts to be read aloud. In math class, websites such as Iready, Khan Academy, and Freckle are used regularly. These websites allow for differentiation and also read texts aloud and play videos. The headphones allow students to hear what is being mentioned in any of these learning platforms. Unfortunately, we do not have enough headphones to ensure all my students have access to hear the videos and listen to the passages clearly.
These headphones will maximize engagement, thusly heightening growth sharply.
Many of my students will benefit greatly from having access to headphones. In addition, due to COVID, many of my students are quarantined for weeks at a time. Therefore, I teach hybrid lessons via Zoom. With Zoom, I plan to use the Jabra bluetooth headphones to ensure my students can hear me clearly and I can hear them perfectly. I actively circle my classroom as I teach and I want to maintain my wireless status to ensure my students who are in-person still feel appreciated.
In sum, my students will be able to score better on these platforms with headphones allowing to hear the audio much clearer.
