This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are first through fifth graders. They are a diverse group of kids that are thoughtful, loving, and sometimes silly. They attend a Title I school in California. Our school has about 500 students who are all eager to learn about music.

My students love coming to music class and learning to express themselves through singing, dancing, and playing classroom instruments.

Students come to my class for two 30-minute periods during the week. They learn to use creativity, teamwork, and empathy while having lots of fun.

My Project

Last year, the generosity of donors like you funded a brand new bass xylophone for our classroom. The kids really enjoyed playing the new xylophone, but it is very heavy and awkward to move around our active classroom. We are asking for a cart to hold the xylophone so that it can be safely moved around the room. Having it on a cart will also make it way more comfortable for students since they'll be able to stand to play it rather than needing to sit up tall on their knees.
