My Project
Some of my students have sensory needs that are greater than others. They have autism and ADHD and even anxiety. Some days, kids are just sad. We have a lot of tools, but we need more to try. They benefit from weighted items that they can hold. These items allow them to self regulate and resume learning. We have found some stuffies with weighted bodies are the best at helping them to refocus by giving the creature a squeeze and a cuddle. The stuffies have become so popular, that I need a few more so everyone can share because big feelings happen to everyone.
A variety of sensory tools helps all students regulated and refocus in gentle ways while staying part of thw classroom community.
We also need some stickers to help us in smaller ways to slow down racing minds or distracted thoughts and help us to get back to work.
We also need a new wobble stool. This type wobbles less and is preferred by some students. We have one of these currently and many students wish we had more. Thank you for supporting us!
