This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My first graders earn 10-20 minutes of dramatic play time at the end of the day as a reward for completing their work and making good choices throughout the day. This time gives them the opportunity to engage in imaginative play with their friends, fostering creativity, social skills, and a sense of accomplishment for their hard work.

The heavy-duty all-in-one play kitchen will provide my students with a durable, realistic environment for dramatic play, which is a key component of their social and emotional development.

Having this high-quality kitchen will allow them to engage in more immersive, extended role-playing, which helps them develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and language skills. As they cook, set tables, or serve each other, they practice teamwork, cooperation, and communication. This play also encourages creativity, as they invent stories and scenarios, and enhances their understanding of daily life and real-world tasks. The sturdy nature of the kitchen ensures it will last through multiple play sessions, offering a reliable resource for learning and play throughout the school year.

My students are an energetic, curious, and creative group of first graders who are eager to explore the world around them. Many of them do not have access to dramatic play opportunities at home, so providing this kind of play in the classroom is especially meaningful. They are at an age where they are developing their social and emotional skills, and through dramatic play, they learn to express themselves, build relationships, and navigate social interactions. What makes them even more special is their incredible enthusiasm for learning and their strong desire to connect with their peers. With your support, I can offer them a valuable resource that helps them grow in ways that go beyond traditional classroom activities.
