Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The makeup of my classroom is culturally and economically diverse. Many of our students' families don't speak English so we have students who have a language barrier. All of our students get a free or reduced lunch and everyone gets a free breakfast. We also are a rural school due to our location outside of the city limits. Our students come to us with a closed mindset and it is my job to help build them up with lessons and activities that are engaging to help them learn to the best of their ability and change their thinking into a growth mindset!
Even though my students face challenges everyday, they still come to school and work hard to attain knowledge.
A sense of pride rushes over them when the are able to grasp a concept, apply it, and surpass the level of potential that I always knew they could reach.
Our math department works very closely together, and we want to provide the best opportunities for our students because they may not get that opportunity at home. It's always awesome to watch our students succeed and overcome challenges.
My Project
Having a personal laminator in my classroom will allow for my students to preserve their work and for me to reuse items so I don’t have to keep making more copies. At different times during our curriculum, we are required to make more copies since they get written on during class.
With the use of a personal laminator those extra copies can be eliminated and save paper and save the school district money.
The laminator will also allow the student to save their work and take it with them and be proud of what they have done and show it to their parents and family.
