Heat Press: Creating School Spirit Gear to Improve School Culture

My Students

I have been an early childhood educator for 12 years and became the academic coach for kindergarten, first grade, and second grade. The past couple of years, our school focused so much on ELA and math, and often forget about other content areas.

Imaginative, creative, and loving are words to describe my students.

They love to play and interact with manipulatives. They love to use their imagination in order to build structures like castles and bridges with blocks and legos. They create crafts with random materials that are available in the classroom. My students enjoy being outdoors, from finding ladybugs on bushes to running around our recess field. They love being in school because they often tell me how glad they are to be there as soon as their parents drop them off.

With your support, I would love to bring developmentally appropriate practice back into our early childhood classrooms.

My Project

Having a heat press will allow my students to design school spirit products that can be sold in our school store. Through the design process, students will use their creativity which helps improve their self-esteem. Students who are encouraged to think creatively are more open to new ideas and challenges, can work well with others, become better problem solvers, and interested in discovering new ideas for themselves.

The heat-transfer vinyl will be used on fabrics and materials to create students' designs. The blank hats and bags will be used so students can create custom school gears that they can apply their designs on to.
