Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a dynamic group of kids who are always looking for ways to learn new things about technology. They come to the classroom filled with humor and laughter and creative minds. More than a positive attitude, these kids come to my classroom often tired of dealing with social issues beyond their control. They often ask if I have food or anything to drink, some basic sanitary supplies. They tell me it's hard for them to concentrate when they have not had anything to eat from home and it's hard for them to socialize when they know other people avoid them because they have not had a descent bath in a long time.
My Project
My students need to have healthier options for snacks like a variety of nuts and some whole grain chips to keep them energized. They come to my class always hungry and always eager to have something to eat while they are doing their work. Providing them with adequate snacks will not only help them become more alert but also boost their attention during class. They are also encouraged to bring some of the snacks home to other members of their family to share. They come to class knowing that when they are there they will be fed and they will learn something new!
