My class is a brilliant bunch of bucket-fillers! They are a hardworking, kind, curious group. They love to read, figure out different ways to solve problems, and write creatively. What makes them special is that they have big hearts. They care about each other and are always interested in making a difference- collecting canned food or pennies for patients. They are competitive, but maintain good sportsmanship. Each day, they come ready for whatever I have to throw at them! They love to learn. Their first decade on Earth, already so bright, is dim compared to what their remaining decades will show! Our room is just a neat group of human beings! It's a honor to spend each day with them.
My Project
At our school, 4th graders study the cardiovascular system! We learn all about the functions and systems of the heart and lungs. To bring this study to life for my classroom of scientists, I would like to provide them with the opportunity to see/touch a model of the heart/lungs up close, make a model of a lung, and create a paper "chest vest" of these organs.
I want my students to have the opportunity to listen to their own heart, measure and take data on their pulse, and dissect a sheep's heart!
With these hands on learning activities, I hope to inspire future surgeons!
