This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My fifth graders this year have taken a big hit emotionally due to the Covid Pandemic that caused them to miss out on hanging out with peers in person and learning all of those playground relationships that happen during second, third and fourth grades. Navigating friendships and emotions is difficult, but it is even harder when you haven't gotten the chance to practice it and you are starting to go through puberty with all of those hormones.
By providing my kiddos with art journals and all of the fun pens, it will give them the chance to process all of these HUGE feelings through their art in an engaging, but also structured way.
These journals will help them get it all out on the page one day and have it there to reflect on another day. They will also make pretty neat historical reminders of the "Days of Covid" when they get much older and have kids of their own.
