Help me give my students paint, oil pastels, paper, and canvas for opportunities to create and to help them find the artist that lives within each of us.
I teach in a public K-5 school. My students are creative, artistic, passionate little people. They're from highly varied backgrounds and ability levels, but they share a love of hands-on learning, singing, dancing, and exploration.
We love to laugh while we learn, use teamwork to achieve our goals, and support each other through every challenge.
I'm always encouraging my students to ask, "How can we make each other better?" I believe there's no better way to do that than by building community with one another and through hands-on education.
My Project
These materials will help me bring art alive in the classroom. We'll move beyond color, cut, and glue to art exploration with oil pastels and watercolor paints.

With these supplies, we'll explore making Modigliani self-portraits, Kandinsky abstracts, and Pop Art in the style of Britto just to name a few. Students will learn art is about emotion, expression, and enjoyment. They'll also learn art is so much more than being great at drawing and painting; art is about finding the artist in yourself.
