Help me give my students an opportunity to use sound on their iPads. It is important that my students can listen to stories or directions for math without listening to everyone else's ipads.
I have a diverse class of Kindergartner students comprised of 8 girls and 9 boys. My students come from a variety of home environments, half of them are from a broken or single-parent home. At least 12 are on the free/reduced lunch program. 5 of my students arrived in kindergarten with no prior knowledge and were unable to write their name or identify the letters in the alphabet.
Regardless of their background and home situation, every one of my students is a treasure to teach and love.
They all love learning and have incredible potential. For some of them, it is a matter of knowing their learning style and how I can tailor my lessons to meet their needs.
My Project
With 17 students at varying levels of reading, it is important that they can listen to stories on their iPads. We have a program call Raz-Kids and on App, students are assigned a reading level that is equal to their ability. They each listen to a story, read a story and then can take a quiz. After completing all the stories in their level, they can level up. With 17 students, it can get very loud when everyone is listening to their own stories. For students who get distracted easily, this defeats the purpose of listening. With headphones, they can remain focused on their own stories.
My students also do math on their iPads and at this age, they need to be able to listen to directions without the distraction of their neighbor's ipads.
These headphones will insure a learning environment where all my students can practice their reading and math skills.
