Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from a diverse community in Queens, NY. They come from a huge variety of economic, religious and cultural backgrounds. We have many ENL students who are new English-language speakers and learners. Over 80% of our students qualify for free and/or reduced lunch.
Our school works hand-in-hand with the community to ensure the highest quality education for ALL students who attend here.
We have a focus on service learning and global conservation, where the students and staff take part in fundraising and creating awareness about issues within the community and around the world. We make global partnerships and teach important citizenship values to our students through these worldwide connections.
My Project
Creating a visually appealing classroom setting is just the beginning. By using a Cricut vinyl cutter, our school will become a community that entices young minds into reading, writing, and citizenship activities that support our school's mission. In addition, the Cricut machine can be used for bulletin board displays and fundraiser signage.
The vinyl decals will be used in classroom displays in order to make the classroom more visually appealing and engage students to become part of our classroom community.
The vinyl decals are easily applied to many surfaces and will not cause damage to the classroom, which means that they will help keep down maintenance in the classroom over time.
Additionally, these class displays can be made in both English and Spanish, making it a great tool for our ENL learners.
