Help me give my students the opportunity to hear great books on CDs. During small group instruction, students need a variety of activities to help improve their reading skills.

My Students
The lives of my students are significantly different from those of their more affluent peers. They lack many of the opportunities to experience events and see places outside their neighborhoods. Their background knowledge is affected because of this, and most of my students will not get to enjoy visiting other lands and see other cultures, unless experienced at school.
Being economically disadvantaged affects them in other ways, too.
My school is committed to embracing the inherent value of every child and empowering them to succeed at high levels. With our families and community, we want to create a learning environment that motivates success, while engaging our students to learn.
My Project
Fluency and expression are an important part of reading. Having a listening station in our classroom enables students to not only hear fantastic books, but it will help instill the love of reading and reading skills. My students will be able to learn to read new words, increase their vocabulary, and be exposed to a plethora of different genres. Because of the pandemic, and virtual learning for over a year, my students have missed out on hearing so much good literature.
A listening station also helps children see how the words on the page become meaningful stories and dialogue that come alive in a fluid, and expressive format.
