As an itinerant teacher for the deaf and hard of hearing, I have the privilege of teaching students who span K-12th grade and two districts in my county. Each of my students are unique. They all have different interests and needs.
"Why fit in when you were born to stand out?" -Dr. Seuss
My students are creative and enthusiastic individuals that enjoy learning especially through unconventional avenues such as games and crafts. It is my goal as their teacher to foster their learning through avenues that are of interest to them to ensure that they achieve success.
My Project
Auditory and language skills are essential to success in the classroom. These skills include vocabulary, being able to listen and comprehend a story, being aware of sounds in words, understanding figurative language, and remembering what you hear. These are skills that my students struggle with due to their hearing loss.
The games in my project target specific language and auditory skills that my students struggle with, and make practicing them fun!
With Granny's Candies my students will strengthen their vocabulary and figurative language understanding. The games Look Who's Listening and Auditory Adventures help students practice their auditory memory and comprehension skills. With Phonological Fun Park, my young students can practice blending and segmenting sounds which will help them learn to read. Finally, with Chipper Chat, my students will practice all of the skills above and more. It is an open-ended game that I can use to make any lesson more fun!
My goal as an educator is to inspire a love of learning in my students by making learning fun. I hope to continue doing this for them with these products!
