My students need a charging station to keep our tablets organized and ready to use daily. They also need 10 headphones to use with our tablets and laptops.
In our class, we start the day ready to go. Technology is a big part of our day. My students love our Reading lessons on our Smart Board. They go to learning centers after they complete independent work. Their favorite center is our tablets. We use them to read, record, and watch learning videos.
Our class is a kindergarten class in a low income area.
We are a 74% free and reduced price lunch school. We have many students who are from foster care homes or with family members, not necessarily a mom and dad. Despite these hardships, our students love learning. They also love the technology we use in our classroom. Because of their living situations, they have little access to technology at home. The more technology they have access to at school will improve their opportunities for the future.
My Project
A kindergarten classroom is wild with excitement as we learn how to read and write. My students love using our tablets, but it can get a little loud when they do not bring headphones from home. The charging station will allow me to have the tablets ready each day with enough headphones for each child to use. This will help the children focus on their tasks at hand and not be distracted by excess noise. As we continue through the year, I would like my students to video themselves reading books. They will then listen to their video. This will help them become more fluent readers.
Having a full set of headphones will help my students focus more on their daily tasks.
The charging station will help keep my tablets organized and ready for use. In my class we have daily helpers. The charging station will also help my students become leaders as they complete their job as our technology helper.
