Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our district is in the heart of Harrisburg and all students receive free breakfast and lunch daily. All school supplies are given to them, mainly by me, their teacher. The area around the school can be difficult for the students and school is their "safe haven."

Students in my classroom have difficult home lives and come to school to escape it.

Students work hard throughout the year with minimal opportunity for reinforcement. They need school to be a fun and inviting place to come too.

My Project

Students are starting a new curriculum for their reading instruction. This curriculum requires them to read into a microphone attached to a computer. The program also requires them to maintain binders to show their work and what they complete independently.

Improving our reading through the use of technology with ensure future success.

Each student is able to attain instruction at their own individual level while the teacher works in small groups on other important skills, such as comprehension and writing. With these supplies, students will be able to access the program and remain organized with all of their materials throughout the school year.
