My Students

My students attend a public school where diversity is immense in all aspects. Students come to our school with varying socioeconomic backgrounds, differing English language acquisition levels, special needs, and childhood experiences. Because all students think and learn differently, it is very important to be able to reach all students at their learning levels. Sometimes, students need extra sensory support to be more successful.

As my students participate in distance learning this Fall, there may be many distractions around the home setting that may make active listening difficult during live zoom meetings, or whenever they need to focus on a read aloud story.

Having noise-cancelling headphones with a microphone feature may increase their focus and allow for better sensory input during virtual class times, as well as encourage verbal participation.

My Project

Using headphones during a live zoom meeting can be helpful during distance learning if multiple family members need to be talking and listening to different people at the same time. Limited house space may contribute to less participation in virtual learning, and I would like to provide ways to encourage more comfortable listening while providing sensory input that may be beneficial as well.

Students may choose to wear them when pre-recorded videos are assigned, or when situations arise in their household where they need quiet to listen and learn.

When school reopens, these headphones may be added to our classroom to increase focus and attention with white noise in their headphones while they work.
