My Students
My students are ages 5 to 8 and have so many different personalities since they vary in ages. I teach small group, ability leveled independent learners! They always amaze me of how they become a small community helping one another with problem solving situations.
Leaders emerge from the group... teaching a skill they understand to another child makes my heart happy.
When I am facilitating small groups, my students are doing individual learning paths created on their ability. When a question arises, we have taught them to seek help not the answers from each other. It works!
Our program has many successful, above level, academically minded and socially well rounded sweet kids as they leave us to enter third grade.
My Project
This cassette/CD player with several headphones and comfy seating pads will be used daily as part of my reading rotations in my classroom.
I have researched how a listening center can be very beneficial with low level learners and ESL students as a tool to follow print and be exposed to unknown words repeatedly.
I have purchased over 50 books on tape or CD and since the hurricane in our area I have not been able to use this center due to some water damage caused by the hurricane. My students enjoyed this rotation and I would like to get it back as quickly as I can. I also would use this device to play our CD's for the enjoyment of listen and move activities, practice for plays, and the kids would utilize the microphone to read aloud to the class their shared work.
I did not realize how useful this little player is until I had to do without it. Thank you with any help in replacing this well used area in my classroom.
