Healthy Water Equals Healthy Kids

Help me give my students a chilled, filtered, water bottle refill station. Our current drinking fountains on campus are far too outdated: from the 1950s. With this new fountain we will be able to do so many things!

My Students

My school community includes a large population of Hispanic and Chaldean immigrant families.

With over 80% of my students being economically disadvantaged and 17% with limited English proficiency, they enter my middle school science classroom facing many obstacles.

Many students at our school lack interest in their education. They come to class with little to no motivation and I intend to change that, one project at a time.

Students are excited when they have new, engaging, and exciting materials. Giving opportunities to feel like the work being done in their class is genuine and authentic, they are much more likely to be engaged. Student success depends on keeping their interest and this cannot be tackled by one teacher, but by the support of others as well.

My Project

We decided to install a water bottle drinking fountain for several reasons: health and environmental impacts. As a 6th grade science teacher I wanted to make a relevant science project for students that is actually impactful on their lives. I want to purchase an Elkay bottle refill station for my school.

The whole body works better when it's hydrated.

It is essential for growth and development, regulated body weight, improves quality of sleep, contributes to healthy digestion. It also enhances the physical activity performance of students, regulates the body's normal functions, and most importantly for schools, improves cognition and concentration.
