Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As the school year comes to a close, I wanted to celebrate all the hard work, growth, and fun we’ve shared with a special end-of-the-year party. My students have learned so much, built friendships, and overcome challenges, and I felt it was important to honor their efforts in a joyful and meaningful way. Providing snacks was one way to help create a warm, festive atmosphere that made the day feel extra special.

Young children often associate food with comfort and celebration.

Having snacks at the party gave the students something to look forward to and helped make the event feel more exciting. I chose snacks that were kid-friendly, easy to eat, and as healthy as possible, keeping in mind allergies and dietary needs. Sharing snacks also gave students a chance to practice social skills like taking turns, saying “please” and “thank you,” and enjoying a meal together in a group setting.

Snacks also helped support the structure of the party. After games and activities, students could sit down, relax, and recharge with a little food. This helped prevent overstimulation and gave them a chance to transition more calmly through the different parts of the celebration.

In short, the snacks were more than just a treat — they were a thoughtful part of creating a fun, social, and memorable experience for my students as we wrapped up a successful school year together.
