Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our classroom is a family that consists of thirty-eight eager-to-learn Kindergarten students in a Title I school in Houston, Texas in which all of the students receive free lunch.
The majority of my students come from single-parent households in which they struggle to make ends meet, but despite their difficulties, they always come into our classroom with smiles, eager to learn.
I want to provide my students with unique learning experiences in and out of our classroom that they can carry through life.
Many of my students and their families were affected by hurricane Harvey and I am trying to make them feel welcomed and secure in my classroom. I also want them to feel like their world is going back to normal after such a tragic event.
My Project
I want my students to learn, but they often can not concentrate if they are hungry. My students need a healthy snack to help them concentrate during their school day. The Pepperidge Farm goldfish and Stauffer's animal crackers are going to be used as snacks during our math workstations.
The Nutri-Grain cereal bars, Quaker chewy granola bars, and Frito Lay Sunchips are going to be given to the students as after school snacks to take home and eat on the bus or at their house.
I plan to place the Nestle and smartwater water bottles in a container so that students can feel welcome to grab one as they need or want to.
I'm also requesting Chalk Markers liquid wet erase pens and erasable window pens for my classroom notes and displays.
