Our classroom is a family that consists of thirty-eight eager-to-learn Kindergarten students in a Title I school in Houston, Texas in which all of the students receive free lunch.
The majority of my students come from single-parent households in which they struggle to make ends meet, but despite their difficulties, they always come into our classroom with smiles, eager to learn.
I want to provide my students with unique learning experiences in and out of our classroom that they can carry through life.
Many of my students and their families were affected by hurricane Harvey and I am trying to make them feel welcomed and secure in my classroom. I also want them to feel like their world is going back to normal after such a tragic event.
My students need healthy snacks to eat during our math workstations and to take home after school.
Our lunch is at 10:27 and the students are not dismissed until 3:00 pm imagine the hunger they feel during school, and therefore they can’t learn if they feel hungry.
The healthy snacks such as the animal crackers and goldfish are going to allow my students to eat something while working and that way they do not feel hungry.
The granola bars and fruit snacks are going to be given to students to take home as an afternoon snack. My students will benefit tremendously from this project.
