I strive to foster independence in my students, which allows them to have a sense of pride and feelings of accomplishment. This encourages problem-solving when my students will be faced with challenges in the future.
I teach in a classroom where half of the day instruction is in English, and half of the day instruction is in Spanish.
I have both native Spanish and native English speakers in my class, as well as students who speak many other languages at home. In our class, my students are becoming readers and writers in both Spanish and English! Our diverse students love to learn!
My Project
This project will help my students learn about healthy eating in a hands-on way. We will be purchasing fruits and vegetables from a local farm. Families will volunteer to help prepare the fruits and vegetables by washing and cutting them into finger foods appropriate for snacks. Families and their students will work together.
Students will then get to enjoy the snacks at school, learning about different fruits and vegetables, where they come from, and how to prepare them.
Frequent exposure to healthy fruits and vegetables will help encourage lifelong healthy eating habits in our students. I'm excited to partner with families and a local farm for healthy student snacks!
